The IGF is the global space where the people who build, regulate and use the Internet discuss its future together — and national initiatives like SIGF are how those conversations take root locally.
An open policy dialogue
The Internet Governance Forum brings stakeholders together to discuss public policy issues relating to the Internet. It is deliberately open: no participant category outranks another, and no outcome is imposed. The value lies in the exchange itself and in the record it leaves behind.
National and regional initiatives
Alongside the global meeting, national and regional IGF initiatives convene the same conversation closer to the people affected by it. They surface the issues that matter in a specific context — cost of access, local infrastructure, language, skills, trust — and feed them upward.
Where SIGF fits
The Somalia Internet Governance Forum is Somalia's national initiative. It applies the same multistakeholder principles to the questions Somalia is working through, and connects the country's Internet community to the wider governance conversation.
